The Golden Eagle is found in the Northern hemisphere and are more closely related to hawks than bald eagles. It has a body length of up to a metre and a wing span of up to 2 metres. Eagles can reach an altitude of over 3000 metres and reach speeds of up to 50mph. They need to eat about a tenth of their body weight daily to stay healthy and prey on fish, crabs, turtles, snakes and small mammals.

The eagle is a universal symbol representing the sun, power, strength, courage, authority, victory, the sky gods. In Paganism the eagle represents renewal and is an emblem of Jupiter. The eagle appears in many nation's emblems and coats of arms including Austria, Egypt, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Ghana, Russia, Serbia, Nigeria, Armenia, Iceland, Iraq and Jordan. The Bald Eagle is the US's national emblem and is found across North America.

A collective of eagles or gathering of bishops is a convocation. Some Eastern Orthodox and Greek Catholic bishops stand on small embroidered eagle rugs during services. The eagle rug is always placed so that the head of the eagle faces the direction the bishop will be facing.

The American Gold Eagle is a former gold coin in the United States which was worth 10 dollars and weighed in at 258 grains. Grains were used as an imperial measurement due to their regularity in weight and formed the basis of all three imperial weight systems. One grain is equal to 64.8mg

Eagle Stamps or Green Stamps were a US trading stamp distributed as part of a rewards programme where customers would receive stamps at the checkout counters of supermarkets, department stores and gas stations which could be redeemed for products in the catalogue.

Eagle is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting programme in America. At least 21 badges are needed to earn this rank as well as planning, developing and leading an Eagle Project to demonstrate leadership and commitment. Eagles who enlist in the US armed forces may receive advanced rank in recognition of their achievement.

Beauty is an Eagle who needs a new beak. Part of Beauty's beak was shot off several years ago, leaving her with a stump that is useless for hunting food. "For Beauty it's like using only one chopstick to eat. It can't be done," said biologist Jane Cantwell, "She has trouble drinking."

To make an Eagle, pour 50ml of gin, 25ml of parma violet liqueur, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1 egg white into a cocktail shaker half filled with ice cubes and shake vigorously. Strain over a wine glass and serve.

Eagles in flight can be identifies by there comparative large size, their very long and broad wings and long broad tail. Eagles hold their wings out flat unlike vultures which hold their wings in a V shape.

The golf eagle is a funny and is a score of two strokes under par on a hole. A double eagle is an albatross. A triple eagle is a condor and occurs on a hole with a heavy dogleg, hard ground, and no trees.

The Eagle Comic was the creation of the Reverend Marcus Morris, then vicar of St James' church, Southport, Lancashire, who intended it as a Christian antidote to what he saw as the bad influence of American comics during the post-war period. The Eagle and its sister papers Swift and Robin were read in the '50s and '60s by millions. The Eagle was one of the most popular comics in British history, selling just under 1 million copies per week.

Eagle & Feather are Julian Butler, aka Eagle, and Stephen Earl Rogers, aka Feather. Collaboratively, Eagle & Feather have been putting their own interpretation on the term "kipple" for a number of years which is a term borrowed from Phillip K Dick referring to the detritus of modern living that will one day overwhelm us. Through regular visits to charity shops, public libraries and jumble sales Eagle & Feather have amassed a collection of absurdly peripheral and esoteric videotapes, selected for their distinct peculiarity.
